Laser Skin Surgery

Laser skin surgery can produce dramatic improvements to the aesthetics associated with redness, spider veins, birthmarks, scars, dark spots and unwanted hair. Dr. Skelsey begins with a careful evaluation. If appropriate, she will suggest a laser procedure that can achieve significant improvement.

Vascular lasers work by focusing a precise beam of light on blood vessels, eliminating them, while leaving surrounding skin intact. To the patient the laser pulse feels like a rubber band lightly snapping on the skin. Laser skin surgery results in little or no down-time. Multiple treatments may be necessary to achieve optimal resolution. Many conditions can be improved with vascular lasers:

Unwanted Redness

Persistent redness on the face from broken blood vessels or acne rosacea can be removed with a vascular laser.

Birthmarks

More than 10 percent of babies have birthmarks, which are a cluster of blood vessels (Hemangioma or “Port Wine Stain”). These can occur on the face, neck, arms and legs and may become thickened and more red over time. Vascular lasers can dramatically improve these conditions.

Scars and Stretch Marks

Surgical and traumatic scars as well as stretch marks can be reduced with a vascular laser.

Dark Marks

Flat, brown spots on the face and hands, café-au-lait marks, melasma and generalized discoloration of the skin can be normalized with pigment-specific lasers. An even skin tone can be restored to affected areas in combination with chemical peels and a home regimen.

Hair Removal

Unwanted hair on the face and body can be removed with lasers. Multiple treatments will result in long-term and often permanent hair removal. Laser hair removal provides a safe, fast and lasting alternative to waxing, shaving, plucking and electrolysis.
